The Target schemes take quite a bit more wait and cost $200 extra. Another pattern I asked about is the Snow/Lost camo, which is not extra but has some wait. I am still on the fence, I did see a Hoyt Carbon Element in Ridge Reaper, which looked great, and swayed my opinion in favor of that scheme. If you could combine the best of both carbon bows, I think you would have a perfect bow. It is fast and accurate, but, the grip is too intrusive on my thumb. I had previously shot the 2016 PSE Air Carbon, and that in my opinion is a very light bow, a lot less noisy, but the hand shock is really bad. Coming from Mathews No Cam, that was loud for me, but I am told that all Hoyt Bows have that popping noise and it can be tuned to be less audible by adjusting the Air shocks, and adding accessories. The one thing I did notice was a Champagne Cork Popping sound at the release. It was one inch longer draw length than my No Cam, which adds to the speed (about 10 fps), but the rest is the cam shape (15 fps). The speed I got was 301 fps with my arrows which was about 25 fps faster than my No-Cam. It shot perfect groups at 10 and 20 yards, with a minor adjustment to the sight. It was not noticeably lighter, as mentioned. As a result, at 60lb., it was pulling like my 70 lb. ![]() ![]() The shorter ATA, comes from the limbs being bent more and pre-loaded. I believe the fact that the riser is not newly designed and is from last year’s lineup contributes to this. ![]() But it is not, comparing it side by side with a Mathews Ignition (the lightest and shortest of the Mathews bows) which is 31” ATA. I had expected the bow to be really short at 28” ATA. First impressions, it was neither light nor short. The Bow was set at 27 inches DL, 60-61# DW, with a Whisker Biscuit, basic 5 pin sight and a 7 inch Stabilizer. I suggest anyone in the San Diego County to check them out and shoot the Carbon Spyder for themselves. As a result in 20, I bought three new bows from them, two Mathews and one Mission. I have never felt any pressure to buy there, which I think is the reason for their success, they let you take your time and make up your own mind. I have shot the bows through chronograph, with lighter, versus heavier arrows, w/wo stabilizers, etc. I have tested almost all the 2016 Hoyt and Mathews bows, and one of the PSEs. They have been great in helping me, with answering my questions, and setting up bows to shoot. My Pro-shop, Performance Archery, in San Diego had one specifically sent in for me to test. Last Week, I had a chance to shoot the 2016 Carbon Spyder FX.
